The Base: This is the biggest vessel ever built in the solar system. The diameter of the disk is 12 kilometers. Including the front and the rear section, the length is 15 km. Height of the disk is 2.5 km. As the name implies, The Base was built as a base for other vessels on long-distance missions. The ship was "in use" for 1,222 years, from issue #860 to #1800, including a 695 year period where it "waited" in pieces to be reconstructed while Rhodan, Bell, and others were caught in a stasis-field.

The vessel was built in 4586 AD by NATHAN, the Lunar supercomputer, to specifications supplied by IT.
